From an initial sketch students will model a small maquette in clay to gain an understanding of form and volume. This will then be carved in a Hebel block. Students will be instructed in tools and techniques. The resulting sculpture is weather proof and suitable as a garden ornament. Occasional model fees additional. Cost includes materials. All skill levels.

For absolute beginners or those with some experience. A sculpture class in which you can learn basic or more advanced skills in the full range of sculptural techniques and mediums. Modelling in clay, mould and cast making, carving and construction. Realise your secret sculptural desires in a class in which you choose your own direction and the tutor helps to get you there. Includes basic materials. All skill levels from absolute beginners to accomplished sculptors.

Students will make a study from a reference of an existing work as the basis for learning the skills of modelling, mould making and casting. Experienced students may undertake the development of their own ideas through a guided process; they may also consider stone carving or the use of other mediums. Cost includes materials. All skill levels.

After initial sketches, students model a head in clay on an armature. The anatomy and proportion of the human head are covered as well as techniques of modelling facial features. This head is then cast in plaster using a waste mould. No previous experience required and beginners welcome.
